The deep cavity processing was done three times but still couldn't remove the burrs? There are continuous abnormal noises after installing the angle head? A thorough analysis is needed to determine if this is indeed a problem with our tools.
The data shows that 72% of users experienced premature failure of the bearings due to incorrect positioning, and incorrect installation resulted in repair costs that were as high as 50% of the cost of a new part.
Installation and Debugging of Angle Head:
1.Angle Head Positioning Accuracy Calibration
The height deviation of the positioning block causes abnormal noise.
Method for matching the angle (θ) of the locating pin with the angle of the main shaft transmission key.
Center distance S (the distance from the locating pin to the center of the tool holder) and matching adjustment for the machine tool.
2.ATC Compatibility
The weight of the angle head exceeds the load limit of the machine tool (BT40:大于9.5kg; BT50:x>16kg)
Interference check of tool change path and positioning block.
3.Spindle orientation and phase setting
After the M19 spindle is positioned, manually verify the alignment of the keyway.
Tool position adjustment range(30°-45°) and micrometer calibration procedure.
Angle Head Operation Specifications and Processing Parameter Control
1.Speed and load limits
It is strictly prohibited to operate at the maximum speed continuously (it is recommended to keep it at ≤80% of the rated value, such as 2430RPM)
The feed/depth needs to be reduced by 50% compared to the tool holder.
2.Colling Management
First, rotate it, then add the coolant to prevent the seal from failing.
The nozzle should avoid the joint of the body (with a pressure resistance of ≤ 1MPa)
3.Rotation direction and vibration control
Counter - clockwise (CCW) for the vibration control spindle →Clockwise(CW) for the tool spindle.
Disable the processing of materials that are prone to generating dust, such as graphite/magnesium.
Fault Diagnosis and Noise Handling for Angle Head Components.
1.Diagnosis and Handling of Abnormal Sounds
| Type of abnormal sound | Possible cause |
| Metallic friction sound | The positioning block is installed too high/low |
| Continuous buzzing sound | Bearings wear or gears break teeth |
| Continuous buzzing sound | Insufficient lubrication at the angle head(oil quantity < 30% of the standard) |
2.Bearing Failure Warning
If the temperature rise exceeds 55℃ or the noise level exceeds 80dB, the machine should be shut down immediately.
Visual judgment method for detecting raceway peeling and cage fracture.
Angle Head Maintenance and Life Extension
1.Daily maintenance procedures
After processing: Use an air gun to remove debris → Apply WD40 to the angle head for rust prevention.
Angle Head Storage Requirements: Temperature 15-25℃/Humidity < 60%
2.Regular maintenance
The axial movement of the milling tool shaft shall be checked every six months (within the range of 100m of the core rod, it shall not exceed 0.03mm)
Sealing ring condition inspection (to prevent coolant from seeping in)
3.Prohibition of excessive angle head depth maintenance
Strictly prohibit unauthorized disassembly(resulting in loss of warranty)
Rust removal process: Do not use sandpaper (use professional angle head rest remove instead)
Angle Head Accuracy Assurance and Performance Verification
1.Accommodate the process
Run at the maximum speed for 4 to 6 hours → Cool down to room temperature → Gradually increase the speed for testing.
2.Temperature Rise Standard
Normal operating condition: < 55℃; Abnormal threshold: > 80℃
3.Dynamic Accuracy Detection
Install the standard core rod to measure the radial runout.
Our angle heads are available in a wide range of sizes, and you are welcome to inquire. Furthermore, our milling cutters are very powerful among milling cutters of the same price range, and pairing them with our angle heads will yield even better results.
